index to artists

about the list

i made this list for furrys who would like to have a portrait of their character and wonder whom to ask .

i have only included artists who want to be on this list . i have not included those who have pictures on avatar.snc.edu but are not currently able to do character portraits (no time) .

to contact the artist, you can either page the character that i have listed under `furrymuck name' or send `e-mail' to the listed address . i have sorted the list by furrymuck names, and listed those without furrymuck characters at the end . some have given me a `postal address' .

some artists are especially good at some things, or refuse to do others, I have listed this under `preferences' . there is a wide variety of `techniques' : a common style is pencil or ink drawing, but there is also color pencil, watercolor, computer-colored drawing, or even raytracing .

if you want to see whether you like the style of an artist or not (and it is advised to do that before you ask them), you can download the picture that i have listed under `example' by clicking on its name . these are pictures of which the artists think that they represent best their style . you can also have a look at the `publications' that have printed works of the artist .

some artists take money, others don't - if they do, I have listed their tariff under `money', so that you can decide how much money (if any) you want to spend .

some artists don't want their work to be distributed without their assent, so you should ask them before you upload or otherwise spread files or copies, even if it is your character on the pictures . some even object against scanning their art . others don't give away the originals, and you can only get a scanned file from them .

if you would like to be included in this list, please tell me your furrymuck name and e-mail address (if any) or another way to contact you, an example picture, your preferences and whether you take money . if you want, you can include your real name and postal address, as well as any additional notes that you think belong here .

you can reach me by e-mail under the following address :

preferences:
I can just about put anything (within reason and the physical restraints of paper sizes) you'd like to see. I have no hangups about any sort of subject matter (with extreme exceptions - if it's illegal, I won't draw it). Tell me what you want me to do, and I'll make a decision.
money:
Depends on the project. Expect price increases for things like inking and coloring. Terms are negotiable upon agreement of work.

If you look at the bottom of my other gifs they say I originally traced someone's body and edited it for the pict. This is my senior semester so any request will take some time.

e-mail:
robert@nope.ucsd.edu
postal address:
1253 Santa Luisa Dr., Solana Beach CA 92075, USA
technique:
I've worked mostly with felt-tip pens. The more inventive things I've done on the macintosh (weird, abstract) haven't been furry-oriented, but people are free to ask me to e-mail copies.
examples:
publications:
Two mini-comics in AnthropoMORPHINE (#1, #3, Foxes Are Neat). All out by Lazy Fox Studios.
money:
I haven't taken any money yet for drawing things since junior high school. I don't think I would charge anything for the time being.

Dusty_Rancourt (Justin Carpenter)

furrymuck name:
Dusty_Rancourt
real life name:
Justin Carpenter
e-mail:
jmc@super7.uccs.edu
preferences:
I'm fairly new to commissions, so I'd prefer to be e-mailed with a description of what you want drawn, and I'll respond after I've given in a few shots (usually 24hrs. or less) to let you know if I'm going to be able to do it. I prefer to do single character, simple pose stuff. I'll give anything short of X-rated stuff a try. (Ask me if you have a piece involving nudity or sexual suggestion beyond playful flirtation - I might take it, I might not.)
technique:
Usually I do high-contrast inked pieces. I will leave it in the pencil stage if you prefer, though. I don't do color, mostly because I have no experience with it and don't feel confident enough to distribute color pieces.
note:
As for brag stuff ... well, I spent a year at the Inkspinner School of Art, and studied animation there. Most of my style is self-taught.
examples:
money:
I don't feel comfortable charging -- I'd feel terrible if after paying for a piece, you got it, looked at it, and hated it. I go by the honor system - if you get a piece from me and like it, and feel it's worth some money, feel free to send it. I won't get upset if you don't pay, but man, will it make my day if you do. :)

Ehlana (Laura Davis)

furrymuck name:
Ehlana
real life name:
Laura Davis
e-mail:
taldin@netcom.com
preferences:
`risque-free' art; meaning, nothing overly erotic comes from the artistic implements of these folkses. Specialities tend to be unicorns and felines. (wonder why?)
technique:
Ehlana's primarily an inker/colorist, but she's also an artist in her own right. Like Kaliffio, she has a unique (but amateur) style.
publications:
Some of Kaliffio and Ehlana's individual and combined efforts appeared (along with them) at Confurence 5.
money:
`if it's in the art show, it's for sale - bid!; if we do something for you and you don't like it, it's free.' We're not in it for the cash; you pay us what you think it's worth. That's for commissions. We reserve the rights to refuse to do a commission; we're generally both under time constraints most of the time. Will trade artwork for artwork and have been known to do free sketches for the fun of it.

furrymuck name:
Ebony

preferences:
Yeah, I do commissioned art on ocassion. I DON'T do sex scenes (I don't think I'm good enough to... yet). Please bare in mind, although I like to have commissions ready the day after I receive them, I do draw for other publications, so other projects are going on too, with deadlines to meet.
examples:
publications:
Yarf!, Bunny Pages, Bestiary, Blue Fur, Furloose, Fire and Fur APA. I also run and contribute to AnthropoMORPHINE and Foxes Are Neat.
money:
5 dollars flat rate for one inked character. Add 2 dollars for each additional character, 2 dollars for intricate clothing, 2 dollars for full background, 1 dollar for fancy borders. Note - this is B&W only, I don't have prices for color pieces yet. (Also note additional costs for postage and packing overseas!)

technique:
Kaliffio's specialties are pencils. Like Ehlana he has a unique (but amateur) style.
publications:
Kaliffio is mainly a writer; some of his artwork can be seen in the (hard to find) Affurmative Action! zine and the Tai-Pan issue #4, as well as some con booklets for Genericon.
I don't do nudity as a rule, but would if it were a part of the character. Cheesecake is a different matter. Outright spooge I won't do.
technique:
I prefer using pencils followed by inking with Sakura disposable pens, and I can do some color work (not too much shading, tho...) with Prismacolor art markers.

furrymuck name:
Nimravid

preferences:
Almost anything; ask first. Preferably no hardcore X, nor violence. Drawing a pic will take a while, due to being in the Army, and responding too. Single character, max 4 / pic. And, I draw non-morphic felines best; with others, quality can be this & that.
technique:
pencil only
note:
pics only via snailmail, for now
money:
'nuff to cover the costs. Cannot scan images for now; when that comes possible, can send binaries. If the image seems worth it, Y'can 'fcourse send more. ;)

real life name:

note:
I've not been published anyplace yet, but maybe after I move I'll have more time for art :)
example:

I'm an amateur and don't feel right in accepting payment.

Rafflin (Barry D. Needleman)

furrymuck name:
Rafflin
real life name:
Barry D. Needleman
e-mail:
rafflin@delphi.com
preferences:
I will paint or draw just about anything having to do with furries including erotic art. Simple portraits to sofa sized landscapes, whatever. I'm very open minded about subject matter with two exceptions; Cub/child porn and violence. I reserve the right to refuse proposals I find offensive.
technique:
pencil, pastel and watercolor. I work in both natural/realistic and cartoon styles. I also do sculpture large and small but, due to studio space limitations, right now I'm restricted to small figurines.
examples:
The best place to find my work is at ftp://ftp.iii.net/pub/pub-site/rafflin. I keep a selection of images here and I add new ones regularly.
money:
prices vary greatly depending on complexity; from $20 for a simple 9"*12" (22.9cm*30.5cm) character study to several hundred dollars for a large complex watercolor. If you want a painting with lots of characters and action, it will cost more. If you want something done in cartoon style or simple portraits it will cost less.

Reptile (Dan Mauer)

furrymuck name:
Reptile
real life name:
Dan Mauer

I can't create incredibly complex objects. If I am requested to do a picture, I will decide whether or not I am skilled enough to do it - if I can't, I won't.
technique:
I work with 3d studio (computer raytracing) and photoshop, and when using 3d studio I can make stereographic images for use with red/blue glasses, if someone wants me to.
example:

e-mail:
horseman@indirect.com
publications:
Regular member of the Dallas Brawl for two years now. Most of my existant non-sexual work is in there.
preferences:
I'm best at doing single characters with relatively simplistic backgrounds, and if you want something techy drawn in I need a reference picture. Specializing in equines, not averse to drawings pertaining to the inflatable lifestyle, but will not do any other sort of pornography. Note I do not consider light erotica to be porn.
money:
US$10 for an 8.5"*11" (21.6cm*27.9cm) portrait, US$25 for color. Will work in other sizes as needed; guaranteed 6 - 8 week delivery or it's free!

Shadorat (Dean Lee Norton)

furrymuck name:
ShadoRat (same on SPR)
real life name:
Dean Lee Norton
e-mail:
shadorat@annex.com
postal address:
4254 First Street, Riverside, CA. 92501-2306, USA
technique:
I use various mediums from pencil (relatively inexpensive) to full blown airbrush (Now we're talking 3 figures!!) ;). I also can do anything inbetween. Ink, color pencil, watercolor, canvas work, etc.
examples:
To my knowledge, I do not have anything in the cyber-medium in the way of GIFS and other files. I am considering it with someone I know, however, that will be down the line.
Publications:
I put out a few of my own publications, FOXTAILZ being my most popular. My latest is FOXTAILZ III - The Risque/Rave Issue, which are going for US$10.00 each, and I also have a few copies of FOXTAILZ II-The Menu going for US$12.00 each. There is also the 1995 FOXTAILZ Calendar going for US$10.00 each. As they say, supplies are limited; these zines are going fast!!

I've also done some inking for Rip Off Press, Kitchen Sink, and Fantagraphics. I've done an installment in Antarctic Press' Furrlough #23 ``Blazin' Charlotte'', and I hope to do more projects for AP in the future.

Other zines include: Brian Yelverton's Bunny Pages, Richard Chandler's Gallery, Tygger and Dean Graf's Boudoir ... and a host of other fanzine and comic book publications.

money:
I accept US currency only, either money orders or foreign money orders made out in US dollars. I will take checks as well. I take all monies up front before committing to a project. Make all checks and money orders out to: Dean Lee Norton.

Here is the breakdown on my charging rates: Pencil sketch US$10.00, Pencil/Inked US$20.00, Pencil/Colored US$30.00, Paint/Colored US$40.00 - all prices are per item/character. Additional charaters in the same drawing are an additional US$7.00.

FYI: I will not do mechanicals for personal reasons, and the use of white paint will be considered a color, so think your character through before we make an agreement. I use 9"*11" (22.9cm*36.4cm) Bristol board, acid-free only. Do not send me sketchbooks! The use of commercial artboard is an additional US$10.00. If you have something in mind that could require the use of airbrush, contact me first before we commit to anything - in this case, preliminary sketches will be considered, and charged accordingly. ;)

Solarbird (R'ykandar Korra'ti)

furrymuck name:
Solarbird
real life name:
R'ykandar Korra'ti
e-mail:
rayek@netcom.com or dark@microsoft.com
postal address:
c/o Low Orbit Publications, 5206 20th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98105-3313, USA
technique:
Pen and ink, or pencil.
preferences:
I tend to draw elves most, but can draw other species as well. As far as `questionable content' goes, I will happily consider any erotica I consider tasteful, and shy away from extreme violence. (This does not imply that I am firearm-, homo- or hetero-phobic. :-) )
example:
I usually don't scan my work, and generally prohibit other scans. More samples are available by paper mail; send email for details.
publications:
Prometheus, Scenario, Lexfanzine, Low Orbit, Westwind, Dasfax, Refractions (as of issue #2) Also got the cover of Lan's Lantern once.
money:
Money? Ya, sure! :-) How much depends upon how complex the piece is, whether they want publication rights, etc. Typically US$10 - US$15 for a simple character sketch. I will provide early roughs for approval, so you know what you're getting before either of us spends too much time or promises payment.

Tygger (L. Tygger Graf)

furrymuck name:
Tygger
real life name:
L. Tygger Graf
e-mail:
tygger@netcom.com
postal address:
Tygger Prints!, 6250 Holabird St. #1, San Diego CA 92120-3545, USA
preferences:
Non erotica, Erotica, Anthro, Non Anthro. I won't draw bestiality or hard bondage. I'm not very good at tech. I prefer to do romantic erotica when I do draw it. I'll be expanding my non erotica art repertoire as well as expanding to draw other subjects besides anthros.

Favourite species to draw: Foxes, Wolves, Felines, Skunks...will draw other species if the whim strikes. I also like to draw humanoids as well, specializing in my own brand of demons and vampires.

Commissions: Yep ... but I have to be approached right about it. Also, due to working on my comic and art for cons, if you commission me please expect a wait of several months. I reserve the right to hold copyright and to make prints of the commission, unless the character(s) belong to you. I also reserve the right to interpret the commission as I see it. (This was the main reason for refusing commissions in the past, I was not allowed any leeway and my creativity was choked.) If you are willing to really inspire me and willing to take a chance, ask me to draw what I want, negotiate price, wind me up and let me go. This is the best way to get quality work from me! Just ask Banner on FurryMUCK. *grin*

technique:
I do Design2 marker mostly but I will enhance that with Prismacolour pencil. Sometimes, if the whim strikes me right, I'll do a piece in all colour pencil and little to no marker.
examples:
GIFs and up do date print listing are available from the FTP server ftp://solluna.org/pub/tygger.
publications:
Gallery 12 to 19, Boudoir 1 to 5, Genus 6 to 8, Furrlough 22 and 24.

Cons attended: San Diego Comic Con (regularly), ConFurence (regularly), Con Dor (regularly), Bay Con (sporadically but will try for regularly), Furtasticon/CF East (sporadically).

I send art to cons yearly and there's never any telling which ones. Just keep an eye open or ask me.

money:
Rates: All commissions are colour unless otherwise specified. Base rate of US$50, price going up depending on content, number of characters, difficulty. Size of bristol range from 9"*12" (22.9cm*30.5cm), 11"*14" (27.9cm*35.6cm), 14"*17" (35.6cm*43.2cm). Price does include shipping/handling.

I work in black sketchbooks between cons. Price for 9"*12" (22.9cm*30.5cm): Pencils: US$10, Inks: US$15, Colour: US$20. You need to include postage (in stamps not cash) to send it back.

Products: Prints, portfolios, calendars. Print prices range from US$3 to US$10, size ranging from 3"*5" (7.7cm*12.7cm), 5"*8" (12.7cm*20.32cm), 9"*12" (22.9cm*30.5cm). Portfolios prices range from US$3 to US$10, size ranging from 3"*5" (7.7cm*12.7cm), 5"*8" (12.7cm*20.32cm), 9"*12" (22.9cm*30.5cm). Portfolios prices range from US$5 to US$15, sizes 8.5"*11" (21.6cm*27.9cm), 4.25"*5.5" (10.8cm*14cm). Calendars prices are $10, 8.5"*11" (21.6cm*27.9cm) size, comb bound. Current products are listed in the print listing available at the FTP site. This listing is also available via email as well.

Payment: I take full payment upfront for commissions, check or money order, US funds, made out to Tygger. For higher priced commissions I'm willing to negotiate installments. I will also sometimes barter but please don't assume I will. For other products, full payment upfront, check or money order, US funds made out to Tygger. International orders please add $5 for s/h, all US orders please add $5 for s/h.

Worgfunk (Jason McIntosh)

furrymuck name:
Worgfunk
real life name:
Jason McIntosh
preferences:
I'll take anything as subject matter, I guess, but my output may or may not match the mood you had in mind. Actually, it will look either silly or neurotic, if I do a good job. Currently toying with an irregular, net-published cartoon series about Mudding and furries called "Muckraking," which exists on Avatar as a very slowly growing list of files, all called `mukrak*.gif'.
technique:
My better drawings are simple, inked line drawings, often scanned and computer-colored. My style's been described as minimalistic and frantic. Someone once compared my stuff to James Thurber's, and that made me happy.
examples:
money:
Anyway, I don't charge anything for commissions, cuz few enough people request them as it is. One or two a year, maybe.

Almost any subject matter is fine by me (with a few exceptions (i. e. illegal stuff like snuff or underage things)). I prefer female characters but males are okay too. Adult illos are my prefered subject matter but any and all concepts are fine too. Let me know what you would like and we'll go from there.
technique:
My style is Japanese manga/anime. I do strictly pen and ink.
publications:
My illos can be found in Bunny Pages #6 and #7, Sheepette Gazette #1, FurryPhile #1 and #2, Furrottica #1 and #2, Viktoria's Secret #1, Furlined #1, and furBALL #1, #4, and #6.
money:
General audience runs US$15, adult US$17, one extra character per piece adds US$5, lots of detail runs an extra US$10. Buyer can choose either an 8.5"*11" (21.6cm*27.9cm) print or 11"*17" (27.9cm*43.2cm). I don't give the buyer originals (mainly because I do sometimes make goofs (leading to a sometimes messy downboard)).
